2019 Goals

I am having a hard time believing it is March already and I haven't even started on my sewing goals. Well not technically anyway.

My goal this year is to only create dresses made from stash since I already have quite a bit and not a lot of room to store it (sucks moving from a 2600 sq ft house to a 1000 sq ft apt.)  and try as I might (and I try VERY hard) I can not justify buying MORE fabric unless it is absolutely necessary for the creation of something (there's my loophole 😂). So how is that goal going for me so far you might be wondering.

Yeah, not so good since I have already bought a piece of fabric that 1) I didn't "need" and 2) it's not even for a Victorian dress. Off to a great start I'd say, but how could I resist and one could argue that it is all my sisters fault and here is why.

I bought this really great  I Love Lucy (her favorite) fabric at Spoonflower for her for Christmas

with the intention of making her a vintage apron since she is the amazing cook between the two of us and does A LOT of it. Glad I asked before cutting the fabric (only have 2 yds) since she told me she doesn't wear aprons.  Hmmm now what to do with this amazing piece of fabric...  Yup just give it to her and let her decide what she wants it to be, so that's what I did.  She said she would love an apron and it doesn't have to be a vintage style (so much for using the really cute, free, pattern I found) so my next suggestion was this one which she loved. So I bought the E-Pattern on the spot.

Now before I cut into ANY fabric when using a new pattern I ALWAYS do a mock up (ask me how I learned the hard way) and since I have a TON of my "Nautical dress" fabric left I figured I would make myself one out of that first before making hers.  Not sure how I ended up at Fashion Fabrics website but I did and now am awaiting the delivery of this yummy piece of fabric that I plan on using for an apron (which I will actually wear as a dress) for myself.
See what I mean, how could I resist. Not only is it so pretty but it was on sale for a great price since it was the last 3yds of the bolt.  The pattern to me absolutely lends itself to the idea of making a dress out of the apron pattern. Yes I will still be doing a mock up of the "dress" from the nautical fabric because again, I have a boatload left over.

So my goal this weekend is to tape together all 37 pieces of the pattern and hopefully start it but as with any plan in this Casa only time will tell if that actually happens or not.

Have a great day.
